Increasing the Potential of Arts and Education, UNDIP Indonesian Literature Study Program Lecturers Perform Community Service in Jurang Blimbing Village
SASINDO – The community service program as one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is routinely carried out by lecturers in higher education every semester with various themes. As an effort to improve arts management, as well as in response to the many challenges in the era of technological development in terms of education, lecturers in the Indonesian Literature study program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University carried out community service activities with this theme in Jurang Blimbing village, Tembalang District, Semarang City. The peak of this activity will be held on April 4 2024.
Some forms of service include performing arts management training for the Kethoprak Sri Mulyo Studio, training and mentoring on arts management techniques
Kuda Lumping Turonggo Tunggak Semi, fairy tale literacy assistance to parents at Paud Mekar Jaya, and assistance in implementing language politeness on Social Media at PKK Jurang Blimbing Tembalang Semarang and so on.
Local residents responded positively to this activity. Local artists enthusiastically responded and discussed the challenges and opportunities in managing mothers in PKK enthusiastically discussing the challenges of raising children in an era of technological progress, and also the ethics of communicating on social media. Awareness of filtering information and using appropriate language in communication is still often ignored, so that conflicts have the potential to arise and people are less wise in sharing personal information. Apart from that, the use of fairy tales as a means of education for children is also starting to erode along with the presence of gadgets that are more audio-visually attractive.
“In fact, apart from being a means of conveying moral messages, fairy tales are more capable of increasing the emotional bond between mother and child,” said Fajrul Falah, S.Hum., M.Hum. as one of the speakers. Likewise, Herpin NopiandI Khurosan.M.A. also stated that based on research, fairy tales have a more positive impact on children’s psychological conditions, because they are able to provide a more stable emotional consistency during the reading process compared to content on social media which is short and changes quickly randomly from pleasant to sad emotions and even things tragic.
It is hoped that this service activity can optimize the potential of local residents in terms of culture, and can always be adaptive and wise in responding to the challenges of technological change in many areas of life.
