The name Wedha Stratesti Yudha is perhaps familiar in the world of Indonesian publishing. A 2003 graduate of the Indonesian Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, he is now widely known in the Indonesian publishing world. In his daily life, Wedha works as a Foreign Rights Specialist at Gramedia Pustaka Utama (GPU) Publishing House and holds a number of important roles at the national and international levels, including Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Publishers Association (Ikapi), member of the Indonesian Literature Promotion Team at the Indonesian Ministry of Culture, and International Relations at the Children’s Reading Lovers Group (KPBA).
Wedha’s involvement in these various institutions demonstrates his great dedication to the development of Indonesian literacy and literature. He plays an active role in bridging the works of Indonesian writers so that they are more widely known by readers around the world.
Journey from Sasindo Campus to the Professional World
During her studies at the Indonesian Literature Department of Undip, Wedha was known as an active and enthusiastic student in various organizational activities. She was involved in the Emka Theater, the Manunggal Student Press Institute (LPM), and Rohis FIB, as well as actively participating in various social activities outside of campus.
Not only was he involved in campus organizations, Wedha was also an active volunteer for Asa PKBI and participated in anti-drug and HIV-AIDS campaigns. According to him, involvement in organizations and social activities plays a significant role in shaping character and interpersonal skills.
“Organizations helped me become a more flexible and open person in social interactions. From there, I learned how to collaborate, communicate, and understand diverse perspectives,” he said.
Dedicating Herself to the World of Books and Literature
After graduating with a degree in Indonesian Literature, Wedha pursued a career in publishing, which later led her to a strategic position at Gramedia Pustaka Utama. In her daily life, she interacts with writers, editors, publishers, and literacy institutions from various countries.
Not limited to interactions with writers and editors, as Deputy Chair of Ikapi, Wedha also plays a role in the development of the national publishing industry, facilitating cross-country collaboration, and encouraging reading and writing literacy in Indonesia. This is also supported by her involvement in the Indonesian Ministry of Culture’s Indonesian Literature Promotion Team and KPBA. where he consistently introduces Indonesian literary works to the global stage, including high-quality Indonesian children’s books.
