The pandemic that has occurred for the past three years has prevented Diponegoro University, especially the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, from holding Character Education events for new students. This condition is different from the new academic year 2022/2023 because in this school year teaching and learning activities can be held face-to-face while still complying with the Health protocol. The latest policy was positively welcomed by the students of the Character Education organizing committee. “I am very happy because this time Pendikar is held offline,” said Novia Rizki Melasari, one of the committees from Indonesian Literature on duty Friday (19/8/2022)

Novia said that the preparation for the implementation of Character Education (Pendikar) this time was more mature than before. “We have been preparing for a long time and there are no obstacles for licensing.” This time the FIB Education Center was organized by sixty academics consisting of committees and facilitators. The event which took place since this Thursday will end on Saturday 20 August 2022.

“This Pendikar event is very important for new students to participate in. Students need to be informed that there is a significant difference between high school and college years. Students are required to be more responsible, added Novia. In the Educational event, various rich and varied materials are given which are expected to shape the character of students for the better. For example, on the first day, the Educator was given material that focuses on recognizing one’s potential which includes: Self and group branding; Potential of God’s Creatures; Ethics, Emotion Regulation. The second and third days focused on aspects of integrity and leadership. These materials are delivered not only through lectures but also through interesting, interactive, and entertaining games.

Not only that the material has been improved with the addition of new games and contextualization of the material, this time Pendikar feels even more impressive because it is held offline. By holding an offline education program, students and committee members are much more enthusiastic and enthusiastic. “Previously, the Pendikar event was only held via a video conference platform, which made new students bored and had many problems with connectivity. But now students are cheerful and involved in activities.”
Pendikar itself is held every day from 07-30 WIB until 16:00 WIB and until 17:00 WIB on Friday. “Of course, the committee must be present since 05:00 WIB, and can only go home around 18:30 WIB.” Novia and friends must arrive before sunrise to prepare the room and media, property, schedule, and confirm the presence of speakers. Even though it was tiring, Novia mentioned that it didn’t burden her. The fatigue of Novia and the other committee members paid off when Pendikar ran smoothly and the new students could have fun.
