Sayyida Nafisa, Indonesian Literature Students Achieved Success Through Kempo

Sayyida Nafisa, an alumnus of the Indonesian Literature Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UNDIP, emphasized that her time at university was not just a time for studying, but also a process of character building and discipline. At the 179th graduation ceremony, she graduated with honors with a GPA of 3.70 — but for her, that number was only part of a deeper meaning.

She was accepted at UNDIP through the 2020 Outstanding Achievement Selection Pathway (SBUB) thanks to her achievements in the sport of kempo. On campus, he successfully combined his academic abilities with his athletic background: in addition to pursuing linguistic studies that view language as a reflection of culture and national identity, he was active as an Indonesian language tutor and in the UNDIP Kempo Student Activity Unit (UKM).

In sports, she served as Treasurer and Economic Coordinator for the UKM, and won gold and silver medals for Central Java at the 2023 National Student Games (POMNAS) in South Kalimantan. At another event, the 2024 UNJ Open, her name was again recorded as an accomplished athlete from UNDIP.

Sayyida emphasizes that student achievements are not only measured by academic grades but also by contributions in sports, arts, and technology—as well as dedication to the alma mater. She also admitted to taking a semester off to focus on kempo training, as a form of commitment to her goals.

Now as an alumna, she is committed to continuing to bring honor to UNDIP as an educator, athlete, and individual who is beneficial to society. According to her, every opportunity should be seen as a form of gratitude — learning, organizing, and competing are tangible expressions of that gratitude.

Her story reflects UNDIP students who are not only accomplished but also have character and are ready to compete globally, in line with UNDIP’s vision as a campus that is “Dignified and Beneficial” and supports the “Impactful Diktisaintek” program.

Dr. Sukarjo Waluyo, S.S., M.Hum., as the Head of the Indonesian Literature Study Program at FIB Undip, expressed his appreciation and congratulations on the graduation of Sayyida Nafisa. He hopes that this will inspire other students to actively participate in various activities in other Indonesian Literature Study Programs.
