SASINDO-Seteguk Arabica, this book is the result of a long process of struggle which was initiated independently by an Indonesian writer, Susy Ayu, in the Indonesian Mini Fiction Community on Facebook. Ervina Eka Safira, a student of Indonesian Literature at Diponegoro University class of 2023, started to get to know this community in mid-2021, when at that time she was holding a weekly challenge to create a line of fiction with certain conditions, one of which was to write with a maximum of 170 characters and a surprise in it. ! This was very challenging for Evi, who had to prepare as short a piece of writing as possible that could take the reader on a journey through the world of imagination, then decorate it with an unpredictable surprise.
Reading the works of senior and junior writers submitted via the comments column made me amazed and excited to dive into the challenges of writing mini fiction, especially after knowing that the selected works were not only entitled to prizes, but also had the opportunity to be published in books.
Evi’s work was chosen as one of the five best among 56 other writings in the first and second challenges, making me even more motivated to pursue mini fiction. From there I became a member who proactively took part in challenges and learned together, until finally I was trusted to become a moderator whose job was to organize the community and assist the curator in registering the thousands of works of mini-fiction that came in from the increasing number of members.
In total there are ± 27 themes that have been proposed, with a limitation of consecutive characters to at least 140 characters, ± 747 selected mini fictions were born in Seteguk Arabica with a total of 53 authors, one of which is the legendary writer, Joko Pinurbo.
