Weru, Sukoharjo (23/7) — Culture is something that is quite risky nowadays. Globalization and modernization are the main causes of cultural loss in society. With this, cultural documentation is something that must be done so that culture remains always there.
One of the members of KKN TIM II UNDIP in 2023 under the guidance of Priyo Sidik Sasongko, S.Si., M.Kom., namely Lina Fitria Astuti, a student majoring in Indonesian Literature, conducted a community service program with cultural documentation. The program was held on July 23, 2023 at the Al-Abror Mosque, Weru Village, Weru District, Sukoharjo Regency.
The story of Al-Abror Mosque is only spread through word of mouth, so the story is not consistent. The current generation also doesn’t care much about their culture. Referring to this, a cultural documentation activity was chosen so that the story of Al-Abror Mosque can be recorded. This documentation was done by interviewing and taking some pictures and videos.
Al-Abror Mosque is an old mosque in Weru Village, although it has now been reconstructed. The early history of the mosque is still a mystery because, from the information obtained, this mosque suddenly existed in that location.
“People used to say that the shape of the dome in the form of a crown was like the crown of the Majapahit Kingdom. Then there is a connection with Nyi Ageng Wiryo Kusumo,” said Mr. Amir the main resource person.
The result of this work program is a book that explains the history of the mosque and its uniqueness as a form of cultural documentation. This book – a digital book access link https://bit.ly/DokumentasiBudaya_MasjidAl-Abror–diinventarisasikan to village officials, can be used as a cultural archive. This book is expected to be a reading to love more culture and folklore in Weru Village.
There are still many cultures in Weru Village that have not been touched but have begun to lose their preservation. Through this activity, it is hoped that the culture in Weru Village can be maintained and always preserved.
