Semarang — The Indonesian Literature Study Program at Diponegoro University (Sasindo UNDIP), together with the management of Muladi Dome, held a strategic audience with the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Office to design a community service program focused on cultural literacy, preservation of literary archives, and empowerment of reading communities.
The audience, which took place in the meeting room of the Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Office, was attended by Sasindo UNDIP lecturers represented by Muhammad Hamdan Mukafi, S.S., M.A., Marta Widyawati, S.Hum., M.Hum., and Anindita Fikri Amalia, S.S., M.S., representatives of the Dome management team, as well as representatives from the Archives and Library Office. The meeting aimed to align visions and collaborative activity plans that would have a direct impact on the people of Central Java, particularly in the fields of literacy and cultural documentation.
In his remarks, Sasindo UNDIP representative Muhammad Hamdan Mukafi, S.S., M.A., emphasized that community service is an integral part of the tridharma of higher education. “We want to present activities that are not only academic but also address the real needs of society, especially in terms of preserving literature and local cultural archives,” he stated.
Representatives of the Archives and Library Office welcomed this initiative and stressed the importance of collaboration between academics and government institutions in safeguarding documentary heritage. Meanwhile, Muladi Dome expressed readiness to serve as an open space for literacy activities, public discussions, and literary archive exhibitions.
Several planned activities discussed during the audience included:
- A seminar on creative writing and local literary documentation
- Competitions related to Indonesian Literature
- An exhibition of archives and classical literary manuscripts from Central Java
- Community literacy programs based in public spaces
This audience marks the first step toward sustainable and collaborative community service. Sasindo UNDIP hopes that these activities can become a model of integration between higher education, local government, and communities in building an inclusive and empowering literacy ecosystem.
Dr. Sukarjo Waluyo, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the Indonesian Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Humanities, UNDIP, fully supported this audience. He expressed hope that it would become a positive initiative and that Sasindo UNDIP students could actively participate in various activities within the Indonesian Literature Study Program.
