Enjoying Poetry, Indonesian Literature Students at Undip Collaborate with Central Luzon State University in Semarang Art Tracing

In May 2025, the Semarang Arts Council and Rumah PoHan initiated an event titled “Semarang Art Tracing.” This event was a program to archive the history of art in the city of Semarang in celebration of the city’s 478th anniversary. The event was held for three consecutive days.

The first day of the parade began with a discussion titled “Kumandang Sastra” and a poetry reading parade by Afra Nur Fadhilah, Asma’ Dzakia G. Naila (2023 Undip student), Mochammad Iklik Muchakkam, Munawir, Ucik Fuadhiyah, and a number of students from Semarang University and Central Luzon State University. The second day continued with a discussion on visual arts entitled “Sanggar Seni Paramesthi” and a screening of films by Semarang filmmakers. Then the third day closed with a discussion on history entitled “Sanggar Raden Saleh”.

This Semarang Art Trail then gave birth to a four-language (Javanese-Indonesian-Filipino-English) poetry anthology by 12 Indonesian and Filipino poets. The book is titled Abadikabra. The name “Abadikabra” itself is taken from one of Asma’s poems, which immortalizes memories and recollections of life that she continues to preserve. This poetry anthology can be read through the Instagram account managed by @namaku.baca.
