The 2024 MINI BIPA Summer Course has opened on July 29, 2024. Taking the topic “Popular Culture in Indonesia” this event seeks to introduce the Indonesian language by introducing popular cultures in Indonesia.

A speech from the Faculty of Humanities dean, Prof. Alamsyah, M.Hum symbolically opened the online MINI BIPA Summer Course. In his speech, Prof. Alamsyah, M.Hum. hoped that there would be an interaction between the participants and this event so that cultural exchange could be felt.

On the first day of the MINI BIPA Summer Course series, the initial material related to “Indonesian Popular Culture” was delivered by Megan Hewitt, Ph.D. The speaker explained about the development of Indonesian culture from period to period with all the symptoms of cultural popularity that stood out at each time. This session was closed with a discussion about the relationship between current Indonesian pop culture and the influence of the Dutch East Indies period. After the presentation from the first speaker, Megan Hewitt, Ph.D., the event continued with a mini BIPA session or BIPA short course from Dr. Wati Istanti, M.Pd. This Indonesian language learning session was full of interaction between the speaker and the participants. This form of interactive exposure tries to introduce Indonesian culture to all foreign participants.

For six days, several speakers took turns giving presentations related to Indonesian popular culture and the Indonesian language. However, the last day of the series of events had a different form because the presenters were MINI BIPA Summer Course participants who explained popular culture in their respective countries. On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the closing ceremony of this series of events was again closed by the dean of FIB, Prof. Alamsyah, M.Hum.
