The National Congress of the XIII Indonesian Cultural and Literature Student Association (ILMIBSI) was held on 26-29 May 2023. The activity, which mainly brought in representatives of students from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and/or those under the auspices of the Language and Literature Study Program, was held through the facilities of the University Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. In this activity, Stephani Amelia Sinurat, who is a representative from the Indonesian Literature Study Program FIB Undip, won 1st place in the National Scientific Oration.
ILMIBSI XIII which was held last month deliberately invited activists and prospective cultural experts from student representatives from all over Indonesia to experience the nuances of the prospective capital island. By seeing directly the island of Borneo as a cultural space, students will be able to assess how the geographical portrait of the island with its suitability as the nation’s capital in its time.
This was one of the points highlighted by Amel, Stephani Amelia Sinurat’s nickname, in her oration. Given the importance of archipelago culture which will later become one of the philosophies in the running of the new state capital, Amel conveyed the points of his speech as follows.

So be aware, whatever challenges are faced by Nusantara Culture in the global era, it is very important to raise awareness for the younger generation. They need to better understand the culture of this nation by loving it, understanding the values ​​contained, and preserving its existence.

Apart from delivering the cultural conservation speech, Amel said, “I am also proud to be a delegate from 3 regions, namely Central Java, East Java, and DIY. (Here I am) present and participating in representing Undip. The three days there paid off with a winner and the experience of seeing how big the changes are in Kalimantan, especially at zero point in the capital city of the archipelago.”
Amel’s active participation in off-campus activities, which at the same time brings educational and cultural values, has received great attention from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. In this case, Dr. Sukarjo Waluyo, M.Hum. gives the greatest appreciation and hope that other outstanding seeds will grow from the Indonesian Literature Study Program, FIB Undip.
